Imperfection is in some sort essential to all that we know in life. – John Ruskin, The Stones of Venice
My Artshow at the SG-Gallery of Scuola di Grafica Internazionale in Venice August-September 2013. I created a small collection of hand painted and mono-print cards as part of the Imperfetto Impressions collection. Every card and print is unique as a result of the applied techniques. Each image was inspired by photos I took of shapes that intrigued me in the surrounding architecture and landscapes. The chosen shapes represented to me a unique aspect of Venice. The water colour texture was created to represent the constant erosion of buildings as a result of the “Acqua Alta”, the frequency of which has increased in recent years with global warming. The cards are accompanied by origami envelopes made with local magazines and newspapers. A strong believer in recycling, I wanted to re-purpose the use of local and easily available materials that can be effectively re-purposed. In this case, the envelopes also serve as a souvenir from Venice. Makes a special gift for friends and family.
