Only I can change my life. No one can do it for me. ~ Carol Burnett
This is so true! I thought this was an appropriate quote to close the discussions around “New Beginnings” and taking action to emerge from a transition.
Often we think our lives will change simply because we are in a new place, new relationship, new job even a new dress and so on. Oddly enough, if you bring the same inner self to these situations your life will also remain the same but with a different set of imagery.
As human beings we carry a lot of baggage and unless we are ready to unburden it, our lives will bring up the same issues over and over. Whether in our relationships or in our jobs.
Only you who can change your life.
Does this ring true for you?
Are you ready for your life?
Action is eloquence. ~William Shakespeare
Action chosen wisely is a great ally when you are faced with new beginnings. It is too easy to feel paralyzed or numb. Look to the near horizon and take action…if only with very tiny steps.
All glory comes from daring to begin. ~Eugene F. Ware
Starting anything new especially a new project that you cherish can be daunting to say the least. It feels like you are standing on the edge of the cliff and deciding whether you are ready to make that jump…metaphorically speaking, of course.
What dreams or projects are you waiting to start? Are you ready to jump off the cliff?
We should be taught not to wait for inspiration to start a thing. Action always generates inspiration. Inspiration seldom generates action. ~Frank Tibolt
Are you in need of inspiration to get started on a project. Most of us rely on inspiration to prod us along or start something.
When I started this blog, I was inspired indeed. It was easy to pen down my thoughts and post the earlier blogs. There have been a few occasions when I’ve felt void of inspiration and I thought the project was going to die before I hit 101 days as promised.
When I found my self in this inspiration void space, I picked a good spot in a coffee shop ad just started focusing on the task. Everything just flowed once I started to write.
Are you ready to take action to move your project along? No better time than now.
It comes from saying no to 1,000 things to make sure we don’t get on the wrong track or try to do too much. Steve Jobs (1955 – ), BusinessWeek Online, Oct. 12, 2004
People often wonder about the life of an entrepreneur. Is it hard? Is it truly fulfilling? It can be both and there are many challenges as an entrepreneur. Being able to say no and delegating to others are right up at the top.
To be an entrepreneur you have to be able to wear many hats at once. This means being ready to do anything that the business demands but also knowing when to step back and allow others.
If being an entrepreneur is a part of your new beginning? Talk to a few that you know and respect to learn some of their hard learned lessons.
The secret to a rich life is to have more beginnings than endings.~ David Weinbaum
Beginnings can take many forms. It can be a starting all over at work, in our personal lives or simply creating something with our existing lives.
As I sit in the coffee shop writing this blog, I notice an older gentleman across the room reading very intently as if he was learning to read. I noticed he was mouthing some words aloud…it wasn’t until I glimpsed the cover of the thick book that I realized what he was really up against. He was learning Japanese. How refreshing is that!
That’s one way of creating more beginnings to create a richer life. What new learning are you anticipating in your life? Perhaps it is a new fitness routine or a new relationship. Whatever it is, it will change you just a little from the way you were before. This is what life is about!
When I dream, I am ageless. ~ Elizabeth Coates
This is the quote that was on my birthday card from my daughter this year.
Dreams make our lives richer. Dreams propel us forward. Dreams make the impossible possible. Dreams are all we have when we arrive at a dead end.
Ancient cultures encourage sharing dreams as a way of solving daily problems. Dreams can reveal hidden fears and strengths.
Next time you find yourself stuck…allow yourself to dream your way out.
Be the change that you want to see in the world. ~ Mohandas Gandhi
New beginnings push us towards change…some of which we might not find as comfortable. Other times, it is change we expect in others. Today, I take inspiration from Gandhi’s quote to bring about change I want around me.
What change do you want to see in the world? Can you be that change?
The future comes one day at a time. ~ Dean Acheson
Ah…it’s the weekend! Much to do while I try to find a little bit of ‘me’ time. I found myself longing for a relaxing breakfast before starting the busy day. I settled myself at the Whole Foods Café on Avenue Road with some breakfast and a good book. I really could have devoured the book in one sitting but that’s a luxury I just cannot afford just yet.
Back at the house in the afternoon to scrub clean the kitchen and bathroom. My sister cannot understand why I don’t get a cleaning service. I find, once in a while, hard physical labour can be very humbling for the body and soul.
At least the floor fumes are subsiding and in a few days I will be able to move in.
Whatever your past has been your future is spotless. ~ unknown
New beginnings tend to be like a baby learning to walk. You wobble a little, fall and then get up and try again until you start walking.
That’s how I feel about my new move. The logistics are a little more complicated with a property where I am sharing 2 other units with tenants.
I will be living out of my suitcase for a good month as I wait for my flat to be vacated at the end of the month. In the meantime, I am attending to affairs in the upper flat where there is still some work to be done before I can rent it out again.
Are you in the midst of a project or change as a result of a new beginning like myself? What outcome are you anticipating?
